Description
Air Fryer Taco Lasagna is a bold, cheesy twist on classic lasagna, layered with seasoned ground beef, tortillas, cheese, and taco flavors. It cooks faster than oven versions and is perfect for an easy weeknight dinner with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup water
Layering Ingredients
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 cup refried beans
- 6 small flour or corn tortillas
- 2 cups shredded Mexican-blend cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Optional Toppings
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Sliced olives
- Green onions
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for optimal cooking temperature to cook the lasagna evenly.
- Cook Ground Beef and Onion: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is fully browned. Drain excess grease carefully to avoid sogginess.
- Prepare Taco Meat Mixture: Stir in the taco seasoning packet and 1/2 cup water. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes until it thickens, enhancing the flavors.
- Prepare Air Fryer-Safe Dish: Lightly grease a baking dish that fits inside your air fryer basket to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
- Assemble the Taco Lasagna: Start layering by placing one tortilla at the bottom of the dish. Then spread a layer of refried beans, followed by the seasoned ground beef, salsa, a dollop of sour cream, and a generous sprinkle of shredded cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of cheese.
- Cover and Cook: Loosely cover the assembled dish with foil to keep moisture in, then air fry for 12–15 minutes to heat through and meld flavors.
- Uncover and Melt Cheese: Remove the foil carefully and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes to allow the cheese on top to melt completely and become bubbly.
- Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 5 minutes after cooking to help the layers set, making it easier to slice. Serve with optional toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, and green onions to add freshness and texture.
Notes
- Use corn tortillas for a more traditional taco flavor and to keep the dish gluten-free.
- Cooking time may vary depending on the size of your air fryer and the depth of your baking dish.
- Letting the lasagna rest after air frying allows the layers to firm up for cleaner, more presentable slices.
