Ingredients
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 apples, peeled, cored, and diced
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup milk
Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss a portion with diced apples to coat.
- In a large bowl, beat granulated sugar and softened butter until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk flour with baking powder. Add to the wet ingredients alternately with milk, mixing until combined.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Layer with half the apple mixture and half the cinnamon-sugar. Repeat with remaining batter and apple layers. Sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar on top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled loaf before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
- Swap milk for maple syrup in the glaze for fall flavor.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves to deepen the spice profile.
- Use mini loaf pans for smaller portions—adjust bake time accordingly.
- Toss apples in caramel sauce before layering for extra richness.
