Description

Baked Garlic Parmesan Oysters are a luxurious seafood appetizer featuring tender oysters topped with a creamy garlic-Parmesan mixture, baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

12 fresh oysters in the shell

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

¼ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

2 tbsp breadcrumbs

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Lemon wedges for serving

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Shuck the oysters carefully, keeping them in their shells. Place the oysters on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or a baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, breadcrumbs, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  4. Spoon the garlic cheese mixture over each oyster, covering each oyster generously.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 10–12 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish.
  7. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the oysters.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
  • For a citrusy twist, sprinkle lemon zest over the oysters before serving.
  • Other herbs like basil, thyme, or chives can be used instead of parsley for a different flavor profile.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day, though the texture may change slightly.
  • If you use frozen oysters, be sure to thaw them completely and drain any excess liquid before baking.
  • For extra crispy topping, broil the oysters for the last 2 minutes of baking, but keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
