Description

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread is a moist, flavorful treat made with ripe bananas and semi-sweet chocolate chips, offering the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. Ideal for breakfast, dessert, or a snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • ¼ cup (60mL) vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups (360g) mashed ripe bananas (about 34 medium-sized bananas)
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, vegetable oil, and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Incorporate Bananas: Fold in mashed bananas until fully mixed.
  5. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Add Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Bake: Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth the top, and bake for 60-70 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add ½ cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • For a spiced twist, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
  • Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk chocolate or dark chocolate chips for a different flavor profile.
