Description

Beef and Green Bean Stir-Fry is a quick and flavorful Chinese dish featuring tenderly sliced flank steak and crisp green beans cooked together in a savory garlic soy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this stir-fry balances rich umami flavors with fresh vegetable crunch for a satisfying main course.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 2 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Sauces and Seasonings

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Oils

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and beef broth until smooth. Set this savory mixture aside.
  2. Heat oil and cook beef. Warm the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until it is browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside to keep warm.
  3. Cook green beans. In the same pan, add the trimmed green beans and stir-fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until they become slightly tender but still crisp.
  4. Add aromatics. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger with the green beans and cook for 30 seconds more, until fragrant and releasing their aroma.
  5. Combine beef and sauce. Return the cooked beef to the pan. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and green bean mixture, stirring well to coat everything evenly.
  6. Thicken and finish cooking. Continue cooking for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients beautifully.
  7. Serve hot. Immediately transfer the stir-fry to serving plates and enjoy while hot; it pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure a tender texture.
  • For a complete meal, serve with steamed rice or your favorite noodles.
