Description

Oven-baked BBQ beef short ribs seasoned with a flavorful dry rub and slow-cooked until tender, then finished with a delicious barbecue sauce for a classic American BBQ experience.

Ingredients

For the Rub:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Ribs:

  • 3 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rub: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Season the ribs: Coat the beef short ribs evenly with the dry rub mixture, making sure to cover all surfaces.
  3. Refrigerate: Cover the ribs tightly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  4. Preheat oven: When ready, preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  5. Bake the ribs: Place the ribs in a covered baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls away easily from the bone.
  6. Apply barbecue sauce: Remove the cover, brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce, and bake uncovered for an additional 20 minutes to let the sauce caramelize and set.
  7. Optional finishing: For a more caramelized finish, you may choose to broil or grill the ribs for a few minutes after baking.

Notes

  • You can broil or grill the ribs after baking to achieve a caramelized finish.
  • Use any favorite barbecue sauce according to your taste preferences.
