Description

Best Ever Churro Bites are crispy, golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar, offering the perfect bite-sized indulgence. These delicious treats are quick and easy to make, and they’re a fun twist on traditional churros, perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into cubes

1 cup water

1 Tbsp granulated white sugar

Pinch salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

Vegetable oil for frying

1/2 cup granulated white sugar

12 tsps ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Heat 1½ – 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep pot over medium-high heat. Use a candy or deep-fat thermometer to heat the oil to 360°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup granulated sugar and cinnamon, then set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter, water, 1 Tbsp sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  4. Add the flour to the saucepan and stir vigorously until a dough forms. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Transfer the dough to a stand mixer, add egg and vanilla, and beat on medium-high speed for 30 seconds.
  6. Fill a piping bag fitted with a large star tip with the dough. Pipe the dough into the hot oil, cutting each piece every 1-1½ inches using kitchen shears.
  7. Fry in batches for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Toss the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while still hot.
  9. Serve immediately while warm. Best enjoyed the same day, but can be stored in a paper bag for the next day (though they may lose crispiness).

Notes

  • For a healthier option, try air-frying the churro bites at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
  • Stuff the churro bites with chocolate chips or cream cheese for a decadent twist.
  • Serve with caramel, hot fudge, or dulce de leche for dipping.
  • Freeze leftovers by cooling completely and then storing in a single layer. Reheat in an air fryer or oven to restore crispness.
