Description

Blueberry Iced Tea is a refreshing, fruity twist on classic iced tea, made with homemade blueberry syrup, cold tea, and a touch of lemon. This vibrant drink is perfect for hot days and easy to prepare for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Blueberry Syrup:

2 cups blueberries (fresh, washed)

2 cups water

1 cup sugar (granulated or cane)

½ lemon (juiced)

For the Tea:

68 cups water (use 6 cups for a 2-quart pitcher, and 8 cups for a 2.5-quart pitcher)

34 bags cold tea bags (family size, Luzianne; use 4 for a stronger tea flavor)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, add the washed blueberries, 2 cups of water, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  2. Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Remove the blueberry syrup from the heat. Strain the syrup into a measuring cup, discarding the blueberry pulp. Let it cool slightly, then refrigerate while steeping the tea.
  4. Fill a glass pitcher with 6 to 8 cups of cold water, depending on the size of your pitcher, and add the cold tea bags. Allow it to steep for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the slightly cooled blueberry syrup to the tea and stir until well combined.
  6. Pour the Blueberry Iced Tea into glasses filled with ice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer sweeter tea, add more sugar to the blueberry syrup or use honey or agave syrup for a different flavor profile.
  • Try adding other berries like raspberries or blackberries for a unique twist.
  • For a fizzy version, top off the iced tea with sparkling water or soda water.
  • For a lighter version, you can use less sugar or a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit.
