Description

Broccoli Beef Stir-Fry is a quick and flavorful Chinese-inspired dish featuring tender slices of flank steak and crisp broccoli florets cooked together in a savory garlic soy and oyster sauce. This easy stir-fry mimics classic takeout flavors and is perfect for a fast, satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Beef and Vegetables

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated

Cooking Oil

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, beef broth, and grated ginger. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and cornstarch, then set aside.
  2. Heat the oil: Place a large skillet or wok over high heat and add the vegetable oil, swirling to coat the surface.
  3. Cook the beef: Add the thinly sliced flank steak to the hot pan and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned on all sides but still tender. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  4. Cook the broccoli and garlic: In the same pan, add the broccoli florets and minced garlic. Stir-fry for about 3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Combine beef and broccoli: Return the cooked beef to the pan with the broccoli.
  6. Add the sauce: Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat everything evenly, and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the stir-fry.
  7. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the broccoli beef stir-fry hot, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Serve with steamed rice or noodles if desired to make it more filling.
  • For the tenderest beef, slice the flank steak thinly across the grain.
  • You can substitute oyster sauce with hoisin sauce for a slightly different flavor profile.
  • Adjust the soy sauce quantity based on your preferred saltiness.
