Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the casserole evenly.
- Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, then drain off any excess fat to keep the dish from becoming greasy.
- Mix Beef with Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning packet, salsa, and drained black beans into the cooked beef, mixing well to combine all the flavors.
- Layer Ingredients: In a baking dish, spread a layer of tortilla chips, then add half of the beef mixture followed by a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering with the remaining chips, beef mixture, and cheese to build a hearty casserole.
- Bake Casserole: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and is bubbling.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven, top it with sour cream and your choice of optional toppings such as jalapeños, tomatoes, olives, and cilantro, then serve warm.
Notes
- Add corn to the beef mixture for a touch of sweetness and extra texture.
