Description

A creamy, satisfying casserole made with seasoned ground beef, fluffy rice, and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for an easy all-in-one American comfort meal that’s both hearty and family-friendly.

Ingredients

Meat & Dairy

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk

Grains

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

Condiments & Seasonings

  • 1 cup cream of mushroom or chicken soup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole.
  2. Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned and no longer pink, then drain off the excess fat to keep the casserole from being greasy.
  3. Mix the sauce: In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom or chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to create a creamy seasoning base.
  4. Combine beef and rice: Add the cooked and drained beef, along with the cooked rice, into the bowl with the soup mixture. Mix everything together until fully incorporated for an even flavor throughout.
  5. Assemble casserole: Transfer the beef and rice mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top to ensure a melty, cheesy crust.
  6. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until it’s hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and slightly golden.

Notes

  • Use brown rice instead of white rice for a healthier, fiber-rich alternative.
  • Add diced bell peppers or onions to the beef while browning for extra aroma and flavor complexity.
  • Feel free to switch up the soup type to cream of chicken or celery for different flavor profiles.
