Description
A creamy, satisfying casserole made with seasoned ground beef, fluffy rice, and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for an easy all-in-one American comfort meal that’s both hearty and family-friendly.
Ingredients
Meat & Dairy
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup milk
Grains
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
Condiments & Seasonings
- 1 cup cream of mushroom or chicken soup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the casserole.
- Brown the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned and no longer pink, then drain off the excess fat to keep the casserole from being greasy.
- Mix the sauce: In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom or chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to create a creamy seasoning base.
- Combine beef and rice: Add the cooked and drained beef, along with the cooked rice, into the bowl with the soup mixture. Mix everything together until fully incorporated for an even flavor throughout.
- Assemble casserole: Transfer the beef and rice mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top to ensure a melty, cheesy crust.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until it’s hot and bubbly and the cheese on top is melted and slightly golden.
Notes
- Use brown rice instead of white rice for a healthier, fiber-rich alternative.
- Add diced bell peppers or onions to the beef while browning for extra aroma and flavor complexity.
- Feel free to switch up the soup type to cream of chicken or celery for different flavor profiles.
