Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups fresh spinach (or 1 cup frozen, drained)
- 1 cup cream cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Cheeses for Topping
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef thoroughly, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Add Spinach: Stir the fresh spinach into the browned beef. Continue cooking until the spinach is wilted and incorporated with the beef mixture.
- Prepare Cream Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and well blended.
- Combine Mixtures: Add the cream cheese mixture to the beef and spinach, stirring until everything is evenly combined.
- Assemble Casserole: Transfer the combined mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese topping is bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
- Add mushrooms or onions to the beef mixture before baking for extra flavor and texture.
- This casserole pairs well served over steamed rice or pasta for a complete meal.
- Using fresh spinach is preferred for best texture, but frozen spinach may be substituted after properly draining.
