Description

Chocolate chip bread is a soft, lightly sweet quick bread loaded with melty chocolate chips. It’s easy to make, perfectly moist, and great for breakfast, dessert, or an anytime snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
  4. Incorporate Dry to Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  5. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter, distributing them evenly without breaking them.
  6. Fill the Loaf Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly to ensure uniform baking.
  7. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Toss chocolate chips with a tablespoon of flour to prevent them from sinking to the bottom during baking.
  • Using mini chocolate chips helps distribute the chocolate more evenly throughout the bread.
  • If the top browns too quickly, tent the loaf loosely with foil to prevent over-browning.
  • Store the bread at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze it for longer storage.
