Ingredients
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)
1/2 cup (60g) chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate and chopped nuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. For fudgier brownies, slightly underbake them.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares. Serve them on their own or with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
