Description

Classic chocolate brownies are rich, fudgy, and indulgent, featuring a crispy top and a soft, chewy middle. These brownies are loaded with intense chocolate flavor and customizable with chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (optional)

1/2 cup (60g) chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate and chopped nuts if using.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. For fudgier brownies, slightly underbake them.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares. Serve them on their own or with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.

Notes

  • For fudgier brownies, slightly underbake them by checking around the 20-minute mark.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by using dark chocolate or reducing the sugar slightly.
  • If you want more flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or a teaspoon of espresso powder.
  • For a vegan version, substitute the eggs with a flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons water) and use plant-based butter.
