Description

Classic strawberry shortcakes are a simple and delicious dessert made with Bisquick shortcakes, sweetened strawberries, and freshly whipped cream, perfect for summer occasions.


Ingredients

1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced

¼ cup sugar

2 ⅓ cups Original Bisquick mix

½ cup milk

3 tablespoons sugar

3 tablespoons butter, melted

½ cup whipping cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with ¼ cup sugar and set aside to allow the berries to macerate and release their juices.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together Bisquick mix, milk, 3 tablespoons sugar, and melted butter until a soft dough forms.
  4. Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet, making about 6 shortcakes.
  5. Bake the shortcakes in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  6. While the shortcakes are baking, beat the whipping cream in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form.
  7. Once the shortcakes are done, split them open while still warm and fill with the sweetened strawberries. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
