Description

Fluffy pumpkin-spiced cinnamon rolls filled with a warm cinnamon sugar mixture and drizzled with a sweet maple glaze, perfect for cozy fall mornings or festive brunches.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, sugar, and pumpkin puree. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is activated.
  2. Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, egg, melted butter, and cinnamon. Pour in the yeast and pumpkin mixture and knead the dough by hand or with a mixer fitted with a dough hook for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Prepare Filling and Roll: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top. Optionally, sprinkle chopped pecans for added texture before rolling.
  5. Shape Rolls: Carefully roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, creating a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them on a greased baking pan close together to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Glaze and Serve: While still warm, drizzle the rolls with a glaze made by mixing powdered sugar and maple syrup. Serve warm and enjoy the cozy, fall flavors.

Notes

  • Sprinkle chopped pecans over the filling before rolling for added crunch and texture.
  • These pumpkin cinnamon rolls make a delightful treat for brunch or as a sweet holiday dessert.
