Description
Fluffy pumpkin-spiced cinnamon rolls filled with a warm cinnamon sugar mixture and drizzled with a sweet maple glaze, perfect for cozy fall mornings or festive brunches.
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- ½ cup pumpkin puree
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Filling
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
Maple Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, sugar, and pumpkin puree. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is activated.
- Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, egg, melted butter, and cinnamon. Pour in the yeast and pumpkin mixture and knead the dough by hand or with a mixer fitted with a dough hook for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Prepare Filling and Roll: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top. Optionally, sprinkle chopped pecans for added texture before rolling.
- Shape Rolls: Carefully roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, creating a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them on a greased baking pan close together to allow room for rising.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Glaze and Serve: While still warm, drizzle the rolls with a glaze made by mixing powdered sugar and maple syrup. Serve warm and enjoy the cozy, fall flavors.
Notes
- Sprinkle chopped pecans over the filling before rolling for added crunch and texture.
- These pumpkin cinnamon rolls make a delightful treat for brunch or as a sweet holiday dessert.
