Ingredients
450 g large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
240 ml buttermilk
125 g all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying
170 g hot honey
Chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot to 175°C (350°F).
- Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Drain the fried shrimp on a lined baking sheet.
- Drizzle the hot honey over the crispy shrimp and garnish with chopped parsley.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Spicy Honey Glaze: Add extra cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the hot honey for more heat.
- Air Fryer Version: For a healthier twist, air fry the shrimp at 180°C (350°F) for 6-8 minutes until crispy.
- Vegetarian Option: Replace shrimp with firm tofu or cauliflower for a vegetarian version.
- Crispy Coating: Add panko breadcrumbs to the flour mixture for an extra crispy coating.
- Sweet and Savory: Mix in a bit of soy sauce or balsamic vinegar with the hot honey for a tangy twist.
