Ingredients
1 large egg
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Optional: herbs, spices, or seasonings of choice (such as garlic powder, paprika, or dried oregano)
Instructions
Preheat the Air Fryer or Waffle Maker:
Preheat your air fryer or waffle maker to 375°F.
Whisk Egg and Cheese:
In a bowl, whisk together the egg and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
Cook the Chaffle:
For a Waffle Maker: Grease the waffle maker and pour the mixture into it. Cook for 4-6 minutes or until the chaffle is golden brown and crispy.
For an Air Fryer: Grease an air fryer-safe mold and pour in the egg-cheese mixture. Cook at 375°F for 4-6 minutes or until crispy.
Serve:
Carefully remove the chaffle from the cooking surface and serve warm. Add toppings or use it as a sandwich base if desired.
Notes
Customization: You can add seasonings like garlic powder, paprika, or fresh herbs for added flavor. Feel free to get creative with toppings or fillings, such as scrambled eggs, avocado, or keto-friendly deli meats.
Texture: Chaffles are best enjoyed fresh and crispy. For a soft version, reduce the cooking time slightly, but the texture may differ.
Cooking Methods: Both the air fryer and waffle maker produce excellent results. The waffle maker gives you a classic waffle shape, while the air fryer provides a quicker option with an even crispier texture.
