Ingredients
Dough
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 3 cups flour
- ½ tsp salt
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: Dissolve the active dry yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active and ready to use.
- Prepare Dough: In a large bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, egg, flour, and salt with the yeast mixture to form a dough. Mix well until ingredients are integrated.
- Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic, ensuring a soft texture in the final rolls.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Shape Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a roll and arrange them in a greased baking pan, spaced evenly.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls loosely and let them rise again for 30 minutes until puffy and nearly doubled in size.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls on the middle rack for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls bake, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to create a sweet glaze.
- Glaze Rolls: Once out of the oven and still warm, drizzle the glaze over the rolls evenly for a glossy, sweet finish.
Notes
- For a flavorful twist, add a cinnamon sugar filling before shaping the rolls.
- Serve the rolls warm for the best taste and texture.
