Description

Pizza Burgers with Mozzarella are a delicious fusion of juicy beef burgers and the irresistible flavors of pizza. Topped with gooey mozzarella cheese, tangy pizza sauce, and crispy pepperoni, these burgers are a quick, fun, and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

4 hamburger buns, split and toasted

1/2 cup pizza sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

16 to 24 slices pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties. Set aside.
  2. Toast the Buns: Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Preheat the broiler. Place the split hamburger buns, cut side up, on a baking sheet and toast them under the broiler until golden brown. Remove the top halves and set them aside.
  3. Cook the Burger Patties: Grill or cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, until fully cooked through and browned on the outside.
  4. Warm the Pizza Sauce: Heat the pizza sauce in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  5. Assemble the Pizza Burgers: Spread half of the warm pizza sauce on the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Top with half of the shredded mozzarella and pepperoni slices. Place the bottom buns under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
  6. Add the Burger Patties: Place one cooked patty on each prepared bottom bun. Top each patty with the remaining pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Return the burgers to the broiler and cook briefly until the cheese is bubbly and the pepperoni crisps.
  7. Finish and Serve: Top with the remaining toasted bun halves and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, swap out regular pepperoni for turkey pepperoni or skip it altogether.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce or use spicy pepperoni.
  • Feel free to add additional pizza toppings like sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers.
