Ingredients

- 1 ham hock or 1½ cups diced ham

Instructions
- Drain the Beans: After soaking the navy beans overnight, drain and rinse them thoroughly to prepare for cooking.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, add the drained beans, ham hock or diced ham, chopped onion, minced garlic, and 6 cups of water or broth.
- Simmer the Soup: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 1½ to 2 hours until the beans become tender and flavorful.
