Ingredients
Beef and Vegetables
- 2 pounds beef stew meat or beef tips
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 1 onion, chopped
Liquids and Seasonings
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Chop the carrots, potatoes, and onion into bite-sized pieces and trim the beef stew meat or beef tips if necessary to ensure even cooking.
- Load Slow Cooker: Place the beef, carrots, potatoes, and onion into the slow cooker. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper directly on top.
- Cook: Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 7–8 hours, or cook on high for 4 hours until the beef is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
- Finish and Serve: Before serving, stir the mixture gently to blend the flavors. If desired, thicken the gravy by mixing cornstarch with cold water and adding it to the slow cooker, cooking for an additional 15 minutes until thickened.
Notes
- Optional: Add mushrooms or celery for extra flavor and texture.
- To thicken the gravy, dissolve cornstarch in cold water and stir into the slow cooker, cooking on high for 15 minutes.
