Description

Smash Burger Tacos offer a playful twist on classic smash burgers by cooking thin, seasoned beef patties directly on tortillas, then pan-searing and topping them with traditional burger fixings for a flavorful, handheld meal.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Tortillas & Cheese

  • 8 small flour or low-carb tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese

Toppings

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced pickles
  • Diced onions
  • Burger sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Pan: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until hot and ready for cooking.
  2. Form Beef Balls: Roll the ground beef into small balls, approximately 2 tablespoons each, to ensure even, thin patties.
  3. Prepare Tortillas and Beef: Place one tortilla in the hot pan, then place a beef ball on top of the tortilla.
  4. Smash the Beef: Using a spatula, firmly press down on the beef ball to spread it thinly and evenly over the tortilla surface.
  5. Season the Patty: Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder evenly over the smashed beef to infuse flavor.
  6. Cook the Patties: Allow the beef to cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
  7. Add Cheese and Toppings: Once cooked, top the beef with shredded cheese and your choice of toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce.
  8. Serve: Fold the tortilla over the filling and serve immediately while hot and flavorful.

Notes

  • Using a burger press can yield an ultra-crispy texture on the beef patties.
  • Low-carb tortillas make this recipe keto-friendly without sacrificing taste.
  • For added spice, incorporate sliced jalapeños into the toppings.
