Description

Smash Burger Tacos combine the best of both worlds — juicy, seasoned smash burgers cooked directly on warm tortillas, topped with melted cheese and classic burger fixings for a quick and delicious weeknight meal that’s sure to please everyone.

Ingredients

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Tortillas and Cheese

  • 8 small tortillas (flour or corn)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)

Optional Toppings

  • Pickles
  • Lettuce
  • Burger sauce
  • Onions

Instructions

  1. Form and Press Meat: Divide the ground beef into small meatballs, about 2 ounces each. Press each meatball firmly onto a tortilla, flattening it to form a thin patty that covers most of the tortilla.
  2. Season the Patties: Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic powder evenly over the meat side of each tortilla, ensuring flavorful seasoning.
  3. Cook First Side: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the tortillas meat-side up in the skillet and cook until the meat starts to brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Flip and Add Cheese: Carefully flip each tortilla so the tortilla side is down, allowing the meat to finish cooking. Immediately sprinkle shredded cheese over the meat side and cover the skillet briefly to melt the cheese, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add Toppings and Serve: Remove the tacos from the skillet and top with pickles, lettuce, onions, and a dollop of burger sauce if desired. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can use either flour or corn tortillas based on preference.
  • Feel free to swap burger sauce with salsa or your favorite condiment for added flavor.
  • Make sure to press meatballs evenly for consistent cooking.
  • Use a lid on the skillet when adding cheese to help melt it faster.
