Description

Crispy golden rice topped with spicy tuna and creamy avocado creates a delightful restaurant-style appetizer combining bold textures and flavors perfect for any gathering or sushi lover craving a tasty bite.

Ingredients

Rice Base

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • Oil for frying

Spicy Tuna Topping

  • 200 g fresh sushi-grade tuna, diced
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha

Garnish

  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Soy sauce, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rice: Mix the cooked sushi rice with rice vinegar until well combined. Press the rice mixture firmly into a flat tray or baking dish to set and chill in the refrigerator until it becomes firm, making it easier to cut.
  2. Cut the Rice: Remove chilled rice from the fridge and carefully cut into small rectangle-shaped pieces suitable for finger food.
  3. Fry the Rice: Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat. Fry the cut rice pieces, turning occasionally, until each side is golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Make the Spicy Tuna: In a bowl, combine the diced sushi-grade tuna with mayonnaise and sriracha, mixing thoroughly to create a creamy spicy topping.
  5. Assemble the Bites: Place a slice of avocado on each crispy rice piece, then top with a spoonful of the spicy tuna mixture.
  6. Serve: Drizzle with soy sauce to taste and serve immediately for optimal texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For safety and best flavor, use fresh sushi-grade tuna.
  • Chilling the rice well before cutting helps achieve cleaner, easier cuts and maintains the shape during frying.
  • Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to get crispy rice without absorbing excess oil.
