Ingredients
Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Filling
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and sugar. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms, then knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Roll Out the Dough and Add Filling: On a lightly floured surface, roll the risen dough into a large rectangle. Spread the strawberry jam evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with ground cinnamon to create the filling layer.
- Form the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log shape. Slice the log into 8 equal pieces. Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased or parchment-lined baking dish or pan.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls and allow them to rise again for 30 minutes, until puffy.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top and are cooked through.
- Make the Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Drizzle the vanilla glaze generously over the warm rolls before serving for a luscious finish.
Notes
- You can substitute raspberry jam instead of strawberry for a delicious variation.
- The cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed warm, fresh out of the oven.
- Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to properly activate the yeast.
- For extra gooey rolls, add a bit more jam inside the filling.
