Description

This Super Moist Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is a decadent treat that combines tender banana bread with gooey chocolate chips, making it perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

1 & ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour, spoon and leveled

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

½ cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly

¼ cup (60mL) vegetable oil

¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 & ½ cups (360g) mashed ripe bananas (about 34 medium sized bananas)

1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and line the bottom and sides with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Add the mashed bananas and mix until well incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Tent with foil if the bread browns too quickly.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Frozen bananas can be used, just thaw and drain any excess liquid.
  • For a healthier version, replace butter with applesauce and use whole wheat flour.
  • For a banana-free version, substitute mashed bananas with applesauce or pureed pumpkin.
  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Wrap cooled banana bread in plastic wrap for freezing, and it will last up to 3 months.
