Description

The TikTok Egg Boil is a simple yet flavorful dish made with hard-boiled or jammy eggs in a savory, spicy sauce of butter, garlic, Old Bay seasoning, brown sugar, and broth. It’s a quick, customizable, and budget-friendly meal that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

6 eggs

1½ tablespoons unsalted butter

¼ cup minced garlic

2¼ teaspoons Old Bay seasoning

3 teaspoons light brown sugar

½ teaspoon onion powder

1½ teaspoons lemon pepper seasoning

1 teaspoon paprika

½1 teaspoon red chili flakes (adjust to taste)

¾ cup chicken bone broth or vegetable broth (low sodium)

¼ lemon, juiced

Kosher salt, optional

Flat-leaf parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring enough water to cover the eggs to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan. Gently add the eggs and cook for 7 minutes for jammy yolks or 11 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath for 2 minutes, peel under running water, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in Old Bay seasoning, brown sugar, onion powder, lemon pepper, paprika, and red chili flakes. Cook for another minute to let the spices bloom.
  3. Add the broth and bring the sauce to medium-high heat. Let it cook for about 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens.
  4. Add lemon juice to the sauce, taste, and adjust with kosher salt if necessary.
  5. Place boiled eggs in a bowl or serving plate and pour the sauce over them. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately. For an extra kick, sprinkle additional chili flakes on top.

Notes

  • For sweeter flavor, add a bit more brown sugar to the sauce.
  • For extra heat, increase the red chili flakes or add a dash of hot sauce to the broth.
  • For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • Add fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra aroma and flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave for a quick meal.
