Description
Light and fluffy donuts made in the air fryer with a golden exterior and soft interior—perfect for a quick homemade treat with less oil.
Ingredients
Donut Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
- Cinnamon sugar: 1/2 cup sugar + 1 tsp cinnamon
- Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar + 2–3 tbsp milk + 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt thoroughly to ensure even distribution of leavening and flavor.
- Prepare wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined to create a smooth liquid base.
- Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until a soft dough forms without overmixing to maintain fluffiness.
- Shape the donuts: Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness, then cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters of different sizes.
- Preheat air fryer: Set your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and allow it to preheat to ensure even cooking.
- Air fry the donuts: Place the donuts in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding, spray lightly with oil if desired, and cook for 6–8 minutes until they turn golden brown and cooked through.
- Add toppings: While the donuts are still warm, coat them with cinnamon sugar by tossing or brush with glaze made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for a sweet finish.
Notes
- Lightly spray donuts with oil before air frying for better browning and crispiness.
- These donuts are best enjoyed fresh for optimal texture and flavor.
