Description
Tender-crisp asparagus roasted in the air fryer with olive oil, garlic, lemon, and Parmesan. A quick and easy vegetable side dish that delivers vibrant flavors and a satisfying crunch in just minutes.
Ingredients
Asparagus
- 500 g fresh asparagus
Seasoning & Flavorings
- 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Toppings & Garnish
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set the air fryer to 200°C and let it preheat for 3 minutes to ensure the asparagus cooks evenly and crisps up nicely.
- Prepare the Asparagus: Trim the woody ends off the asparagus stalks to remove tough parts and allow for even cooking.
- Toss with Seasonings: In a bowl, combine the asparagus with olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until all spears are well coated.
- Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Place the seasoned asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket to prevent overcrowding, which could cause uneven cooking.
- Air Fry: Cook the asparagus for 6 to 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even cooking and browning.
- Add Parmesan: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan on the asparagus during the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking so it melts slightly without burning.
- Finish with Lemon: Remove the asparagus from the air fryer, drizzle with fresh lemon juice, and toss gently to combine.
- Serve: Plate the asparagus immediately and serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra citrusy zing.
Notes
- Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your asparagus; thinner stalks require less time.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure each spear cooks evenly and crisps properly.
- To make this dish dairy-free, simply omit the Parmesan cheese without compromising flavor.
