Description

Tender flank steak strips tossed with egg noodles and coated in a smoky, savory barbecue sauce, balanced by sautéed red bell pepper and onion, creating a comforting fusion of rich barbecue flavors and hearty noodles perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Steak & Sauce

  • 1 lb (450 g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Noodles & Vegetables

  • 8 oz (225 g) egg noodles
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • Green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the egg noodles, and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Heat the Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to warm until shimmering.
  3. Season the Steak: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to evenly coat.
  4. Sear the Steak: Add the seasoned steak strips to the hot skillet in a single layer and cook for approximately 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still tender. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper and onion. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 4–5 minutes until vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.
  6. Combine Steak and Sauces: Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the barbecue sauce and soy sauce, stirring to evenly coat all ingredients in the smoky sauce.
  7. Toss with Noodles: Add the drained egg noodles to the skillet and toss everything together gently over medium heat until the noodles are heated through and well combined with the sauce and steak mixture.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions for a fresh finish, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use your favorite barbecue sauce to tailor the flavor profile to your liking, whether sweet, spicy, or smoky.
  • Avoid overcooking the steak to keep it tender and juicy — flank steak cooks quickly and should remain slightly pink inside.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with a crisp side salad or steamed green vegetables for a balanced meal.
