Description
Pizza Sliders are easy, cheesy mini sandwiches filled with pepperoni, mozzarella, pizza sauce, and Italian seasoning, then baked until warm and golden. They are perfect for game days, parties, family dinners, or a fun kid-friendly meal that combines classic pizza flavors in a convenient slider form.
Ingredients
Slider Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls or slider rolls
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 6 oz sliced pepperoni
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Butter Topping
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Red pepper flakes, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the correct temperature while you prepare the sliders.
- Slice the rolls: Without separating the individual rolls, carefully slice the entire package horizontally to create a bottom and top layer, keeping the rolls connected for easy assembly.
- Prepare the base: Place the bottom half of the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to create a solid base for your slider layers.
- Add sauce: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the bottom layer of rolls, making sure to cover all the buns for full flavor in every bite.
- Layer toppings: Arrange the sliced pepperoni evenly over the sauce, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Top the sliders: Carefully place the top half of the rolls over the cheese and pepperoni layers to close the sliders.
- Prepare butter mixture: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix well to combine the flavors.
- Brush topping: Generously brush the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls for added flavor and a golden finish.
- Bake covered: Cover the baking dish loosely with foil to keep the sliders moist and prevent the tops from browning too quickly. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5–8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Let the sliders cool for 3–5 minutes before cutting into individual pieces. Serve warm for the best taste.
Notes
- Add cooked Italian sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives to customize your pizza flavors.
- Use turkey pepperoni for a lighter and lower-fat option.
- Keep the foil on during the initial baking phase to avoid overly browning the tops.
- For extra crispy tops, broil the sliders for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
