Description

This classic dirt pudding is a creamy, no-bake dessert layered with chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and crushed chocolate sandwich cookies. It’s a fun, crowd-pleasing treat perfect for parties, potlucks, and family gatherings that combines rich chocolate flavors with a playful presentation.

Ingredients

Pudding Mixture

  • 1 package (3.9 oz / 110g) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups (480ml) cold milk
  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup (30g) powdered sugar
  • 8 oz (225g) whipped topping, thawed

Cookie Layer

  • 14 oz (400g) chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed

Garnish (Optional)

  • Gummy worms

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pudding: Whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk in a bowl until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes. This will form the creamy base of your dessert.
  2. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps remain.
  3. Combine Pudding and Cream Cheese: Gently fold the thickened chocolate pudding into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated, creating a smooth, rich blend.
  4. Fold in Whipped Topping: Carefully fold the thawed whipped topping into the pudding and cream cheese mixture until evenly combined, keeping the texture light and fluffy.
  5. Layer Cookies: Spread half of the crushed chocolate sandwich cookies evenly in the bottom of your serving dish to create the first cookie layer.
  6. Add Pudding Layer: Pour and spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cookie layer, smoothing out the top for an even surface.
  7. Top with Remaining Cookies: Sprinkle the remaining crushed cookies evenly over the pudding layer to create the ‘dirt’ effect.
  8. Chill: Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2 hours to allow it to set and the flavors to meld together.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, optionally add gummy worms on top to enhance the fun, ‘dirt’ theme of the dessert.

Notes

  • Serve in individual cups for easy portioning at parties.
