Description

Easy Bibimbap with Ground Beef is a simplified version of the classic Korean rice bowl. It features savory seasoned ground beef, colorful vegetables including spinach, carrots, cucumber, and bean sprouts, topped with a fried egg and a spicy gochujang sauce served over warm white rice for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

For the Beef

  • 1 pound (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Bowls

  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cucumber, julienned
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 4 eggs
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Sliced green onions

Gochujang Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish light and flavorful.
  2. Season the Beef: Add minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and black pepper to the beef. Stir well and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the flavors are fully combined and fragrant.
  3. Prepare the Vegetables: Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch the spinach and bean sprouts for 1 minute. Drain thoroughly and set aside to be added later to the bowls.
  4. Fry the Eggs: In a separate pan, fry the eggs until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny to add richness and balance to the dish.
  5. Make the Gochujang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together gochujang, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, and water until smooth and well combined, creating a spicy and tangy sauce.
  6. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked white rice evenly among four bowls. Arrange the seasoned ground beef, blanched spinach, bean sprouts, shredded carrots, and julienned cucumber artfully over the rice.
  7. Top with Egg and Sauce: Place a fried egg on top of each bowl. Drizzle each serving generously with the gochujang sauce and garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef for a lighter option.
