Description

A refreshing Greek-style chicken recipe featuring tender grilled chicken breasts served with homemade tzatziki sauce, fresh pita bread, and crisp vegetables for a vibrant and healthy Mediterranean-inspired meal.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken breast, grilled and sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Dill, fresh or dried, to taste

To Serve

  • Pita bread
  • Tomato slices
  • Cucumber slices
  • Red onion slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the grated and well-drained cucumber. Add the minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and dill, then season with salt to taste. Mix thoroughly until smooth and set aside to let flavors meld.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken breasts until fully cooked through and nicely browned, approximately 6-7 minutes per side depending on thickness. Once done, slice the chicken into strips.
  3. Assemble the Meal: Warm the pita bread if desired. Place sliced chicken inside the pita and add tomato, cucumber, and red onion slices. Generously spoon the tzatziki sauce over the chicken and veggies. Serve immediately for a fresh and satisfying meal.

Notes

  • Make sure to drain the cucumber well to avoid a watery tzatziki sauce.
  • You can substitute fresh dill with dried dill if fresh is unavailable.
  • For added flavor, marinate the chicken in olive oil and lemon juice for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • This recipe is great for meal prep; store chicken and tzatziki separately until ready to serve.
