Description

Tender, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs slow-cooked to perfection and coated in a rich, flavorful barbecue sauce. An easy and satisfying dish with minimal effort that culminates in a caramelized finish under the broiler.

Ingredients

Ribs and Seasoning

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry to ensure the seasoning sticks well.
  2. Mix the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful spice blend.
  3. Apply the Rub: Evenly coat both sides of the ribs with the spice mixture, ensuring all surfaces are covered.
  4. Arrange Ribs in Slow Cooker: Place the ribs inside the slow cooker, curling them to fit if necessary for even cooking.
  5. Add Barbecue Sauce: Pour half of the barbecue sauce over the ribs to infuse flavor during slow cooking.
  6. Cook Ribs: Cover and cook on low heat for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours until ribs are tender and fall-off-the-bone.
  7. Preheat Broiler: Set your oven broiler on to prepare for caramelizing the ribs.
  8. Broil for Finish: Transfer ribs to a baking sheet, brush with the remaining barbecue sauce, and place under the broiler for 3–5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and ribs develop a nice crust.
  9. Serve: Serve the ribs hot and enjoy the rich, smoky, tender barbecue flavor.

Notes

  • For extra smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce or the spice rub.
  • Customize the dish by using your favorite barbecue sauce variety to suit your taste preferences.
  • Broiling at the end adds a delicious caramelized finish that enhances both flavor and appearance.
