Description

Tender, fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs slow-cooked to perfection and coated in a rich, flavorful barbecue sauce. This easy, hands-off recipe delivers succulent ribs with minimal effort, perfect for a satisfying main course.

Ingredients

Ribs and Seasoning

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels to ensure the rub sticks well.
  2. Make the Spice Rub: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Apply the Rub: Rub the spice mixture evenly all over the ribs, coating both sides for maximum flavor.
  4. Set up Slow Cooker: Place the ribs into the slow cooker, curling them if necessary to fit, and pour half of the barbecue sauce over the ribs to infuse flavor during cooking.
  5. Slow Cook the Ribs: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, allowing the ribs to become tender and juicy.
  6. Broil for Finish: Preheat your oven broiler. Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet, brush the remaining barbecue sauce on top, and broil for 3–5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes and the ribs get a slightly crispy finish.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve the ribs hot, ready for your table.

Notes

  • For an extra smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce or spice rub.
  • Feel free to use your favorite brand or homemade barbecue sauce for customization of flavor.
  • Broiling adds a nice caramelized and slightly crispy finish to the ribs, enhancing texture and taste.
  • Removing the membrane helps the ribs become more tender and allows flavors to penetrate better.
  • If you prefer, ribs can be cooked overnight on low for maximum tenderness.
