Ingredients
Fish
- 1½ pounds white fish fillets (cod, mahi-mahi, or tilapia)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Slaw
- 3 cups shredded cabbage
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
- Salt and pepper to taste
To Serve
- 8 corn tortillas
- Lime wedges
- Sliced avocado (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the fish seasoning: In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a smoky spice blend.
- Coat and grill the fish: Brush the spice mixture evenly over the white fish fillets. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat and grill the fish for 3–4 minutes per side, until cooked through and flaky but not overcooked.
- Make the cilantro lime slaw: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, chopped cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, and salt and pepper. Toss well until the slaw is evenly coated and flavorful.
- Warm the tortillas: Heat the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet until warm and pliable, about 30 seconds per side.
- Assemble the tacos: Flake the grilled fish into large pieces. Fill each warmed tortilla with a generous portion of fish then top with the cilantro lime slaw.
- Garnish and serve: Add sliced avocado if desired and serve with lime wedges for squeezing over the tacos.
Notes
- Ideal fish choices include cod, mahi-mahi, or tilapia for best texture and flavor.
- Be careful not to overcook the fish to maintain its moistness and flakiness.
- Adjust seasoning in the slaw to your taste preference.
- Can be served with additional toppings like hot sauce or extra cilantro if desired.
