Description
A hearty and comforting American main course featuring tender steak, savory mushrooms, and seasoned rice baked together for a rich and satisfying meal, perfect for a protein-packed dinner.
Ingredients
Rice and Broth
- 1 cup uncooked rice (preferably jasmine or basmati)
- 2 cups beef broth
Meat and Vegetables
- 200 g steak, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings and Oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) to prepare for baking the rice dish.
- Cook the steak: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat, then add the steak pieces. Cook until browned on all sides, then remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté vegetables: In the same pan, add chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the onion is translucent and the mushrooms are soft and fragrant.
- Add rice: Stir the uncooked rice into the sautéed vegetables, cooking for 1–2 minutes to lightly toast the rice and coat it with the flavors.
- Combine ingredients in baking dish: Transfer the rice and vegetable mixture into a baking dish. Add the cooked steak pieces on top.
- Add broth and season: Pour in the beef broth evenly over the contents in the dish. Sprinkle paprika, salt, and black pepper evenly for seasoning.
- Bake the dish: Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
- Rest before serving: Remove the dish from the oven and let it rest covered for 5 minutes to allow the rice to absorb any remaining liquid and for flavors to meld.
Notes
- Use jasmine or basmati rice for a lighter, fragrant texture and best results.
- For added richness, sprinkle cheese on top of the rice mixture before baking.
- Resting the dish after baking helps the rice fully absorb the liquid and improves the overall flavor.
