Description

Flavorful Thai Basil Beef Rolls featuring savory ground beef seasoned with soy, oyster, and fish sauces, wrapped in fresh rice paper with aromatic Thai basil and crisp lettuce. A delightful light meal or appetizer that’s easy to prepare and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 300g ground beef
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Wraps and Garnish

  • Fresh Thai basil leaves
  • Rice paper wrappers
  • Lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook, stirring and breaking it up, until the beef is fully browned and cooked through.
  2. Season the Beef: Add the minced garlic to the beef along with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine and continue cooking for an additional 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Prepare Rice Paper Wrappers: Fill a shallow dish with warm water and briefly soak one rice paper wrapper at a time until it softens but remains pliable, about 10-15 seconds. Remove and lay flat on a clean surface.
  4. Assemble the Rolls: Place a lettuce leaf on the softened rice paper, then add a spoonful of the beef mixture and several fresh Thai basil leaves on top.
  5. Roll the Wraps: Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll tightly from one end to the other, similar to a spring roll, to enclose all the ingredients securely.
  6. Serve: Arrange the rolls on a plate and serve fresh, optionally accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce such as sweet chili or peanut sauce.

Notes

  • Serve with sweet chili sauce or peanut sauce for added flavor.
  • Add shredded carrots or cucumber slices to the rolls for extra crunch and freshness.
  • Make sure not to over-soak the rice paper or it will become too fragile to roll.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed fresh to preserve the texture of the rice paper and crisp lettuce.
