Description

These crispy Veggie Stir-Fry Wonton Cups are a delightful appetizer featuring crunchy baked wonton wrappers filled with colorful, flavorful stir-fried vegetables. Perfect as a party snack or a light lunch, these cups balance texture and taste beautifully with a savory Asian-inspired seasoning.

Ingredients

Wonton Cups

  • 24 wonton wrappers

Vegetable Stir-Fry Filling

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup shredded carrots
  • ½ cup red bell pepper, finely diced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp ground ginger

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the wonton cups.
  2. Form Wonton Cups: Lightly grease a mini muffin tin and press the wonton wrappers into the cups, shaping them to form small edible cups.
  3. Bake Wonton Cups: Bake the shaped wontons for 8 to 10 minutes until they turn lightly golden and crisp. Remove from oven and set aside to cool.
  4. Heat Oil and Sauté Garlic: In a skillet over medium heat, heat sesame oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Cook Vegetables: Add shredded cabbage, carrots, diced red bell pepper, and sliced green onions to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for 4 to 5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  6. Add Seasonings: Stir in low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and ground ginger. Mix well and cook for an additional 1 minute to combine flavors.
  7. Fill Wonton Cups: Spoon the flavorful vegetable stir-fry mixture into the baked wonton cups evenly.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the filled cups for garnish. Serve immediately to maintain their crispiness.

Notes

  • Add diced mushrooms or water chestnuts to the vegetable mixture for extra texture and flavor.
  • These wonton cups are best served fresh to keep the wrappers crisp and crunchy.
  • For added protein, consider mixing in cooked tofu or edamame into the vegetable stir-fry before filling the cups.
